22nd MAY, DAY 2 TOPICS

Breakout Session

What will be the future value of my EV?

Asset depreciation is the highest contributor to a vehicles total cost of ownership. Therefore understanding/predicting the future value/residual value of an EV is extremely important. There are many contributing factors to the worth of a used vehicle and EV’s have their own nuances.
This session will explore the new and used EV markets for the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Group of Scandinavian countries, and Australia. The statistics will demonstrate which used EV vehicle markets are doing well or struggling. This forensic analysis will explore the reasons behind the used EV market performance.
Why is this important? In 2023, Australia doubled the size of its EV carpark with 87,217 new EVs sold however there were only 11,652 used EVs sold privately or through automotive dealers. The number of used EV’s will grow each year based on the sale of new EVs 3 to 5 years earlier so it’s important to act now.
Participants will understand what’s possible and necessary, to protect/strengthen used EV residual values. Federal and State Governments, Australian motoring clubs, vehicle remarketing companies and the vehicle owners all have a role to play.
