Breakout Session

Utilising Technology and Behaviour to Manage Fatigue in the Workplace

Fatigue continues to be a major contributing factor in road crashes in Australia and worldwide. Managing fatigued driving is multi-faceted and using fatigue detection technology (FDT) to predict and warn of impending fatigue and related impaired driving in combination with programs to support workers to manage fatigue is one way to combat fatigued driving.
To help understand how to best integrate fatigue detection technologies into vehicles and organisations, the AAA Road Safety Research Program commissioned two pieces of research to evaluate which types of fatigue detection technology work best and how to assess and select FDTs that best meet individual and business needs, as well as how to support the workforce to manage fatigue for safer driving. This session will explore the facts around fatigue detection technologies and how to support behaviour change in the workforce.
