ADAS – The Unintended Consequences of Fitting Vehicles Accessories
New vehicle models benefit from the inclusion of safety features developed for the ultimate goal of autonomous vehicles. Unfortunately, these new features can be impacted by accessories we traditionally fit to vehicles to increase the safety for occupants.
Airbags are designed to deploy in very specific circumstances to ensure they don’t cause more harm than good. Other advanced driver assist systems (ADAS) also operate in specific circumstances and the successful deployment of each can be negatively impacted by the fitment of accessories.
Many of these safety features deploy within hundreds of a second and are launched based on a myriad of sensors, all of which can be adversely affected by vehicle accessories.
During this session you’ll hear about the technologies and examples of why safety features could be impacted by the fitment of vehicles accessories.
